The project "Supporting Moldova's National Climate Change Adaptation Planning Process" , supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) with funding from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management of the Republic of Austria and implemented by UNDP Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and its Climate Change Office, announces a call for grants for climate change implementation in the most vulnerable regions in Moldova.

ANNEX TO APPLICANT GUIDELINE (RO)

 

Eligible for this call are:

1.     Communities, groups of communities;

2.     Regional development Agencies;

3.     Public Local Authorities of 1st and 2nd level;

4.     NGOs and private sector companies that are or are representing the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises. They must be formally registered entities in Moldova and demonstrate a sustainable business at the time of the call, in the following districts SÎNGEREI, FĂLEȘTI, NISPORENI, CĂLĂRAȘI (for agriculture and water resources sectors) and LEOVA,  BASARABEASCA (for agriculture and energy sectors).  

The project proposals submitted for grants must meet the following general eligibility criteria:

1.     to contribute effectively to reducing local vulnerability and priority areas to climate change;

2.     to increase the local / sectoral diversity by using natural resources;

3.     to help prevent the negative impacts of climate variability and climate change, to present anticipatory measures of damage caused by climate factors;

4.     to contribute to opportunities  increase of generating income and livelihoods diversification;

5.     to meet the immediate needs of increasing resilience, but to aim long-term goals of climate change adaptation;

6.     to contribute to the awareness of decision makers and local population to the need of  climate change adaptation;

7.     to create measures that will contribute to local population adaptation to a sustainable development and will have a positive impact on vulnerable groups, including women, children, and old people;

8.     to promote sustainable economic growth in rural communities;

9.     to show high potential for expansion or replication in other regions;

10.   to contribute with measurable impacts that can be monitored;

11.   Must not affect the environment and include environmental education activities. 

 

Pilot project beneficiaries must provide co-financing of at least 20% of the total grant. The maximum size of the grant will be 30 thousand US dollars.

 

The rules and procedures for calling and project selection are given in the Applicant's Operational Guideline. It can be found on the website http://clima.md/ and on the official websites of the District Councils, eligible for these grants (Sîngerei, Fălești, Nisporeni, Călărași, Leova and Basarabeasca).
