Local public authorities of I and II level, community groups, entrepreneurs, regional development agencies and NGOs may benefit from grants in the field of climate change adaptation. In this regard, ADA / UNDP project "Supporting Moldova's National Climate Change Adaptation Planning Process" launched a call for proposals, in early May.

 "Eligible in this project, are the communities, community groups, regional development agencies, local public authorities of I and II level, NGOs. Also, there are established several criteria that must be fulfilled by potential beneficiaries, but, at the same time, they must provide a co-financing of at least 20% of the total cost of the grant. The maximum grant amount is 30 thousand US dollars. ", said Ala Druţă, project manager of ADA / UNDP project "Supporting Moldova's National Climate Change Adaptation Planning Process".

"In a study, based on several indicators, including those regarding the socio-demographic profile, water supply, environment, financial insurance, climate variability, natural hazards and others, most vulnerable cities to climate change were identified. These are the localities from the districts Sîngerei, Făleşti, Nisporeni, Calarasi and Leova Basarabeasca. Thus, the authorities and communities from these districts can submit concept notes and application for funding. Until May 15, concept notes will be collected, subsequently a commission will analyze them and give them points. 12 projects that will accumulate maximum points will pass the next step of the call", said Vasile Scorpan, manager of Climate Change Office.
