China will cope with climate change in 11 major aspects during the 2011-2015 period to achieve its announced targets, said a white paper released by the Chinese government on Tuesday.

The white paper, titled China's Policies and Actions for Addressing Climate Change, was released by the Information Office of the State Council.

According to the white paper, in the next five years, China will strengthen the legal system and strategic planning, accelerate economic restructuring, optimize energy mix and develop clean energy to fulfill its goal.

China aims to reduce its carbon dioxide emission per-unit GDP by 17 percent by 2015 and energy consumption per-unit GDP by 16 percent as compared with that in 2010, according to the white paper.

China will continue to implement key energy-conservation projects, vigorously develop a circular economy, steadily launch low-carbon pilot projects, gradually establish a carbon emissions trading market, and enhance the capacity of carbon sinks to cope with climate change.

Efforts will also be made to enhance the capacity of adaptation to climate change and strengthen capacity building, as well as carrying out all-directional international cooperation on climate change.

China has made an overall arrangement for energy conservation, emission reduction and greenhouse gas emission control for the five-year period by releasing the Comprehensive Work Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction during 2011-2015 period and the Work Plan for Greenhouse Gas Emission Control this year, the white paper said.
